January 15, 2006 - Recently Apple distributed a new pre-release build of Mac OS X 10.4.9 to its developer community.

According to people familiar with the new seed the build number is 8P2117, and fixes nearly two dozen bugs over previous build 8P2111. Listed are some of the issues it fixes:

- CoreData
- CUPS
- CFNetwork
- Kerberos
- Open SSH
- SMB File Server
- IOkit kernel
- Unix commands
- Webcore
- Issue connecting to a system in Sleep mode
- m4v file extension not recognized
- Synchronizing data from Address Book via Sync Services
- Printing with SMB home directory from Rosetta applications
- Glitches when users copy read-only files

The PowerPC build is 176.2 MB and Intel-based Macs build is 82 MB.
