AppleInc is playing Japan's top mobile operator NTT DoCoMo Inc against No. 3carrier Softbank Corp (9984.T: Quote, Profile, Research) on selling theiPhone in Japan, meeting executives from both companies, sources saidon Tuesday. Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs recently met with NTTDoCoMo President Masao Nakamura, the Wall Street Journalsaid. A company source told Reuters the meeting "may well havehappened." Sources have said executives from both DoCoMo and Softbankhave met with Apple executives to discuss Apple's demands over the pastyear to become exclusive carrier partner for the iPhone - which bringstogether Apple's iPod music player, a video player and a Web browser.
